About Melissa
I'm Melissa Harris, and I've been serving children of the city and county for the last nineteen years. Within that nineteen years I have given my time in some form rather it be through church, work or just volunteering with children. Six of them volunteering in the community.
I am running for School Board because I'm passionate about: switching school start times for all students ensuring that elementary school kids have older siblings home before they get home, ensuring teachers have the resources they need, our school zones to make them better for the community, and work on adjusting our schools curriculum to better prepare the students of our city and having the community's voices heard.
I am seeking the At large city school board seat. I am currently a girl scout leader/Girl Scout Service Unit Manager and have served on the Virginia Avenue school PTO and was on the VACDES parent advisory board during school board meetings. Now it is time to serve the community.
